1973 Maserati Indy America
Registration Number: Greek Registered (Historic Vehicle)
Chassis Number: AM116471780
The Indy was launched in 1969 in answer to a strong demand in The United States for a four seater version of the Ghibli. The name was in recognition of the two consecutive wins by Maserati at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940, and was changed to Indy America to denote improvements and evolution to the design. The Indy was styled by the renowned Carrozzeria Vignale and features elegant, yet highly practical two-door coachwork, whose all enveloping design proved to have excellent aerodynamic properties resulting in low wind noise and economical fuel consumption.
As part of the Peter Monteverdi collection AM 116 47 1780 has been extremely well looked after and is only now on its fourth owner. The car comes with the fastidious maintenance of the previous owner goes some way to explain the excellent, but highly original condition of this car. Its paint is original blue, its interior is original cream, yet both are as wonderfully preserved as the rest of the car, with a patina that makes this ex-Peter Monteverdi car truly endearing.
A car still undervalued that can only be compared with the Ferrari Daytona.
NOTE: The car is currently located in London.
